Then you'd be at least guaranteed of consistent handling in all cases. But I don't. Everything I've ever written has 4 digit years. I saw this coming when I *started* programming, nearly 20 years ago. (In fact, I use dd-mmm-yyyy format to save arguments/ambiguity w.r.t. American and *real world* :-) date formats/displays).
