Hey everyone, My system admins are asking me to move the /INFORMIXTMP directory (they hate it in root). What does everyone out there recommend? and how do you change the location? Thanks! If you are using private servers, you can do without /INFORMIXTMP; for informix/root-owned servers, that's where it lives. It is crucial to server discovery, and also to shared memory and local stream connections. -- Jonathan Leffler <jonathan.leffler@gmail.com> #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix - v2011.0612 - http://dbi.perl.org "Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused." --90e6ba21237f75bfee04a924d079
Kate No need to move it, 1. Soft link it (ln -s /INFORMIXTMP 'area where it can be!') to somewhere that is acceptable, remember to set the permissions on the new location to be same as current. 2. Ask sys admins for a 'lump' of filestore to be created and mounted as /INFORMIXTMP. You can do waht you like with it and it won't affect the machine. 3. Tell them it isn't going to be a problem. I've had /INFOMRIXTMP in root for years on different servers, different O/S and different IDS versions with nary an issue. YOU CANNOT MOVE /INFORMIXTMP, the engine will try to put it back. AFAIK failure to create it will prevent startup. Art Art S. OK, just being pedantic, you can replace it with a symbolic link. Art Art S.
