Do you mean 1003.1-1996? This is the latest official release of the entire POSIX.1 standard, which specifically includes 1003.1c-1995 (as well as 1003.1b-1993, 1003.1i-1995 and the original 1003.1-1990)... It contains 784 pages of standards document (including rationale), available from IEEE and ISO/IEC, and so on. One interesting item missing from even this standard is symbolic links -- they are not part of this standard. Anyone know why? The rationale documents them (reserves values for them) in the cpio/tar tape formats, but otherwise they are conspicuous by their absence.
