Semaphores marked for deletion

Hi, I hope someone can help me out on this. We are running informix in a real-time situation where data is being loaded around the clock. Twice now, the semaphores/shmem that informix has created have been marked for deletion and the database is offline. Obviously, this brings down all the ingest software. tbmonitor shows that Informix is offline and I can't restart it until I specifically remove the semaphore. FWIW, the error returned is 17. The version is 5.x. (with an upgrade to 7.x coming soon! But, not soon enough...) Your insight is greatly appreciated.
