In article <D5J5pE.J0L@cix.compulink.co.uk>, akent@cix.compulink.co.uk ("Andy Kent") says: <snip> > >The current set of products is supposed to get around the use of reserved >words by knowing the context they're used in. The current manuals do >however warn you of taking it to extremes - there's an interesting >discussion of the perils of using 'AS' as an identifier. <snip> So it does! But it's not only Informix which can get confused! I go along with the previous suggestion of using unique prefixes for table and column names - the method suggested is great as anyone with no knowledge whatsoever about a database can work out how it all joins together. I have meet databases where joined columns have completely different names in different tables, which is a bit like calling the M1 the LE1 in leeds and the LO9 in London. You'd have to be 'in the know' to realise that they are the two ends of the same road! Sally
