Re: Run 4GL Program without Database Permissions?

One way - is to make sure permissions are set at user level for the second database on all the tables. Create a new table which you'll allow users of the first database to insert into. Finally - run a program at regular intervals to update the relevant tables in the second database using the data in the new table. As you specified 5.0x I dont know if you have access to triggers, but I'll assume you do... You could create a DBA procedure to do the update for you upon an insert into the new table (so you dont need to run the program mentioned above at all). Alternativly - give the users connect permission and let them execute the DBA procedure directly. -- -- Mike Aubury _\\?/_ |O O| +----------oOOO-\\_/-OOOo-------+------------------------------ -+ | Heisenberg may have been here| mike@aubury.demon.co.uk | | | http://www.aubury.demon.co.uk | +------------------------------+------------------------------ -+
