Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

I have installed a copy of I-Net on a customer's system (actually two
systems). The purpose is to run SAS-Connect from the one machine and
access the date files on the larger machine. The I-Net is runtime
version (which does not come with any manuals). I have no idea how to
set up the configuration. I know on SE Version 7 and above you get the
functionality of I-Net built in. On 7.0 you have to set up an
environment variable called INFORMIXSERVER and a file called SQLHOSTS (?
is that right) and also make an entry in /etc/services. Could someone
please help with the setup of this? I can test using a 4gl program on
the "client" machine to connect to the server before I even mess with
SAS.
Could you please provide:
Necessary environment variables for both client and server machine
Necessary configuration files for both machines
Entries required in /etc/services
Startup methods for sqlexecd (that is what is started in 7.0)
Server machine is IBM RS/6000 Model 39H running AIX 4.1.4
Client machine is IBM RS/6000 Model 43P-132 running AIX 4.1.4
If you knew how much SAS cost to run on the big machine you will see why
we are doing it this way.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
