What info can anyone give me? Don't get me started. [That's one for our regular viewers!] OK, NewEra is now in maintenance mode, the same as 4GL. This means there will be no further extensions to the product unless you haul out the dollars yourself. This means that if NE meets your requirements now, it's as good a choice of tool as any for now. But you and your team will not increase their market value in terms of sellable skills, and you will be stuck in an evolutionary cul-de-sac. Informix failed to market NewEra properly (at all?) and never really seemed committed to the product. Pity really, because with just a little more effort, they could have turned it into a nice little money-spinner. Most of the alternatives which have been suggested in this forum are considered eccentric, fringe technology in South Africa, and no matter how good they are, I doubt I would have any more success selling them than I had with NewEra. The Delphi's and VB's of the world don't scale, and the Forte's and Dynasty's cost 10 times more... However, having said that, we have still not found a suitable replacement, and any (useful) comments would be appreciated... -- /Ciao, \\Billy / \\Group Managing Director, The West Solutions Group: http://www.west.co.za / Chairman, South African Informix User Group: http://www.west.co.za/~saiug \\ Informix FAQ @ http://www.iiug.org/techinfo/faq/faq_top.html / Drivel @ http://www.west.co.za/tasteless/ \\________________________________________________________________________________________________
