Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

I discovered that NETTYPE is defined twice in the ONCONFIG files for 5
Informix databases that I'm taking over responsibility for. One
definition is for tlitcp and the 2nd for streams str??? or something like
that. These 5 instances are on the same machine. We have been
experiencing 908 errors. Informix recommended that we take out at least
one if not both of the NETTYPE definitions and let them default. In the
INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file all that is defined is tlitcp - multiple
times with unique names. In the machine specific notes for this release
it says that NETTYPE definitions need to be in the TBCONFIG and in the
INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file.
THE QUESTIONS ARE: What is the effect of defining NETTYPE or any other
configuration parameter more than once? Does Informix handle it o.k.,
get confused, take the value of the last one it reads or what?? Do I
really need to have NETTYPE defined in the ONCONFIG as well as in the
INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file or not?
Thanks in advance for any help.
@#$% it, I'm gonna go get some mangos.
