Re: Question on data base replication

Terence, I'm sorry to say that Informix's "data replication" feature isn't what you're looking for. First, it only works with two databases; a primary and a secondary. Second, the secondary database cannot be updated by anyone except the DR process. It's essentially a read only database. I'm sorry to report this because I have a situations much like yours. At my site, I'm handling the replication manually much as you describe (using triggers and custom application code). Ugly, obscure and slow, to say the least. I'd love to know how others have handled this! I believe there are some third-party products which support this, but I don't know who they are or if they've been released yet. --Craig (craig@chemistry.utah.edu) } } I am considering the use of data base replication facilities to bring multiple } data bases at different physical locations consistent. } } It would be very much appreciated that anyone can advise me whether it is } reliable and with good performance to make use of this facility for my application. } } Requirements are : } } I have twelve locations; each with data base to record personal records installed. } The business nature is such that a person has record at one location does not } have record at the other.
