Mirrorring

Can anybody tell me how easy or difficult it is to convert unix (HPUX) filesystem mirroring to informix chunk-to-chunk mirrorring. Currently we have our raw data mirrored using the unix filesytem mirrorring and had couple of disk crashes and we had to restore the entire database; this is on Informix 5.x version...does chunk-to-chunk mirrorring improve peformance in any way? Also, will we be better off with Informix 7.xx on a single cpu HP9000/800. The single CPU is being hammerred by the sql jobs. Your help will be greatly appreciated......DnK
