We do. I back up two database servers to DLT, one to the first archive
(/dev/rmt/0), the other to the second on the tape (ie /dev/rmt/0n).
David Williams suggested elsewhere in the thread that you just use
/dev/rmt/0, and he's right, in that I can't restore directly from the
second archive. I've therefore written the larger of my servers'
archives to position 1 (or 0!) on the tape, from which I can restore
directly. To restore the second server I would first have to dd the
archive to disk (or another tape) and restore from there. I've tested
this and it works fine.
