In my experience if you're using version 2.50 of Intersolv's ODBC drivers you will not be able to sort by char or varchar fields. If you want to shell out $99/seat however, you can get version 3.10 and add the following key to your registry: My Computer\\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\ODBC\\ODBC.INI\\ Your_DSN_Name\\WorkArounds=1073741824 I don't know how or why this works, I just know it does. BTW, this fix is 2 months old, so there may be a better solution by now... ? Does anyone out there know if Informix has started distribution of Intersolv's ODBC 3.10 as general practice yet? j -- Jay Hannah Quality Service Management, Inc.
