Hi all! I'm trying to move some tables with Blob fields (stored in sbspaces) from an 11.50FC9 (HP-UX) to 12.10FC2(Linux). I've tried to use dbcopy and dbmove from the last utils2_ak package, but, in both cases, I'm getting the following errors: - dbcopy: copy_table: Invalid data type: 41 - dbmove: Opening cursor with rowid > 0. Error: -9270(0) on EXECUTE copystmt. Last good rowid = 0. As per I've read, this kind of movement should work with this utilities (or maybe I'm wrong and I can't use them to do the work...) Thanks for your help! Luis.
Luis: Bad news, dbcopy has never been extended to handle smart blobs, it only handles TEXT and BYTE type blobs. Dbmove, because it basically uses INSERT INTO .... SELECT FROM, cannot be used to move extended types (which includes BLOB and CLOB type columns) between servers. I could extend dbcopy support to CLOBs and BLOBs, but it would entail significant work and there are issues that I have avoided dealing with because smart blob documents can be shared by multiple source records which cause unwanted duplication at the target database. The best option for you would be to use external tables using pipes to move the data from one database to the other if you don't want to unload the data to disk and reload it. Art Art S.
