new user

I am new to Informix - using a proprietary software program developed using Informix database. I have a B.S. in computer science but no experience with Informix. My software developer has told me that they no longer intend to support this software, and I need to access LOTS MORE information than I currently am able to. So... what this means, I guess, is that I'm willing to try things, but don't exactly know where to begin. I have some information on SQL, and access to the original programmer for [billable] information on tables and their contents. Any, any, any suggestions/guidance/information/help would be appreciated. Just point me in a direction even! Thanks for any input.. Marcia Limbert Lancaster, PA
