onbar + autochanger + ISM

I see from the news archives several persons have asked how to use
an auto-changer with Informix Storage Manager and ontape or onbar.
But I do not see useful answers.
The auto changer is HP Surestore E Autoloader 818 which has 8
DLT tape capacity.
ISM manual clearly states it has no functionality to support any
kind of auto changer.

I have successfully used Informix's ISM package with a tape drive that
had autochanger. I modified the scripts and configuration slightly to
call a shell script which was responsible for changing tapes whenever
the tape filled. Since ISM is a layer around a brain damaged Legato, I
used some of Legato's documentation to determine how to get my script
to runwhen the tape filled.
Does this mean that ISM is actually by Legato and the Legato scripts
were modified? I understand Legato does support auto-changers.
Any hints as to how to use command line statements to facilitate the
changing of tapes when using onbar might be useful to me.

Right you are !!
ISM is Legato Networker.
You will find the Legato binarys under $INFORMIXDIR/bin/nsr*
Try to figure out how to use this binaries to work with auto-changers
