Its how I reversed engineered some things to figure out how Informix worked. ;-) Its just an old trick. I just decided to share it with this newer generation. But I don't know if they're still proficient in C to really take advantage of this. _________________________________________________________________ Keep your kids safer online with Windows Live Family Safety. http://www.windowslive.com/family_safety/overview.html?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_family_safety_072008

If I'm paying for a DBMS in 2008 I rather expect that it shouldn't be necessary for me to reverse engineer it's disk layout. YMMV. I'm pretty sure that, if forced to, I could read bytes from a raw partition using a programming language other than C. In other words, proficiency in C is not a necessary prerequisite. Second, you can use *other* languages. C is just the easiest and most efficient in hacking things. _________________________________________________________________ With Windows Live for mobile, your contacts travel with you. http://www.windowslive.com/mobile/overview.html?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_mobile_072008
