[Q] how to drop all the databases and instance?

We have Informix On-LIne 5.10 on AIX server. All of the Informix data on SSA
disk array. We plan to replace the SSA disk array and need delete all of the
databases (include rootdb and p_log and l_log). Can anyone tell me how to do it
from dbaccess and tbmonitor?
Thanks.
Er, can you explain more precisely what you're doing?
You will have the old and the new array attached at the same time?
I don't think onmonitor and dbaccess are the tools you'll want.
dd and rm sound more likely.
Are you using soft links for your chunk names (please post output from
tbstat -d)

Thanks for help. The way we plan to do are:
1. use tbunload to backup all databases
2. remove all databases includes rootdb, p_log, l_log and instance
3. remove all disk partitions on AIX which define for databases
4. take out old SSA disk array
5. put new disk array
6. Initialize database
7. restore databases
We know how to "initialize and load databases", but we still have problem on
remove all databases.
Thanks,

You'd be better off:
1. Using tbtape to back up the database to tape
2. Use rm to remove the Informix chunk names (hence the request for you to
post the output from tbstat to check you are using links)
3. Take out old array
4. Put in new array.
5. Re-link Informix chunks to new disk areas
6. Use tbtape to restore the new database.
You simply don't need to bother with tbunload and rebuilding the server.
Unless you want to for some other reason.
