I don't know if you've found an answer yet, but just in case... I have had a
problem on occasion with comparing dates and strings. In these cases I have
used the date function (see below) which attempts to convert the string to a
valid date format before it processes the equality. While this suggestion will
deteriorate performance somewhat, it's always worked for me.
select s.sort_order,
s.sort_des,
c.pt_sub_cd,
c.pt_sub_des,
sum(p.sales) sales,
sum(p.cost) cost,
sum(p.pmargin) pmargin
from csa_margin p, c_pt_sub c, c_sort s
where
p.pt_sub_cd = c.pt_sub_cd and
c.sort_order = s.sort_order
and p.time_pd between date ("01/01/94") and date ("01/01/95")
and p.wa_nbr matches "*"
group by s.sort_order, c.pt_sub_cd, s.sort_des,c.pt_sub_des
order by sort_order, pt_sub_cd
I hope this helps!
