Did I create a DBSpace correctly?

I don't know much about Informix, I am on a student work term trying to work through it without any help from our information systems people. They installed the database but they don't know anything about it, so be merciful with my lack of knowledge. Previously I have been creating all of our databases in the default rootdbs, and since I heard that wasnt' the recommended practice, I attempted to create a new workspace. I did the following: 1. cat /dev/null > raw_dbs *This in same dir as rootdbs 2. chmod 660 raw_dbs 3. onspaces -c -d dbdemo -p /app/informix/dbspace/raw_dbs -o 5000 -s 10000 4. dbaccessdemo dbdemo3 -dbspace dbdemo 5. Then I added a new table to dbdemo3 from the dbadmin in LiveWire, and it seemed to work. I am wondering if you can tell me if I missed something, and did some damage to our system. I am new to all of this.
