Depending on byte order and page size it still may work. ! When your database(s) use OS locales you might run into troubles after the restore, when locales on the OS are different. The restore may work but the data may still be inaccessible. However, I know of customers who did successfully restore RELIANT backups to SOLARIS instances. Nevertheless, I don't recommend it (unless you are desperate). Rather follow a supporetd migration path for a change of the OS. Keep in mind that IBM Informix Support will not be able to help you on any troubles in such a case. Best regards Tilman

I call this 'voodoo computing'. It requires a witch-doctor to make it work. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. We generally don't want to suggest solutions to the customers that require magic and the aid of witch-doctors to be successful. ;-) M.P. > !
