Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
We are trying to connect via JDBC with an Informix DBMS running on an
AVAYA G3 Definity Telephone switch. We can connect using ODBC and
appear to have all the right passwords, logins, etc. When we try to
connect it just hangs. What are the possibilities where we are wrong.
Do we need to know both the port to go in on and one to listen on? We
have used JDBC on several other DBs and have never had a problem. We
are using JDBC from Informix, but have not tried all the versions. Any
suggestions
This should work with all JDBC drivers but recommended are 2.21 or 3.00.
If the connection fails you should get an exception. May be this needs
1-2 minutes. Be sure you print out the error message in the catch block.
Try something like this:
url =
"jdbc:informix-sqli://myhost:8049/db1:INFORMIXSERVER=on94_tcp;user=myself;password=xxx";
try
{
conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url);
System.out.println("Connected to server successfully");
}
catch (SQLException e)
{
System.out.println("Failure: connecting");
System.out.println("Exception.... " + e.getMessage());
}
If you don't get an exception look at the server side using "onstat -g
ses". If you see a session check what it is doing with "onstat -g ses
sessionid".
