Re: Dynamic Link for ESQL/C ?

Thank you for your suggestions. None of them worked, as written, for our 7.12 installation on AIX 3.2.5. I'm not sure whether this means shared libraries were not intended for this version of Informix, or whether our SA misinstalled the product. I would not be allowed to fix the latter, so I won't ask. In particular, our version of esql/c doesn't care for -shared or -dynamic. Based on your posts, however, I tried the following, and it seems to work. We have 4GL, and it certainly does shared libraries. So I tried: esql .... -L $INFORMIXDIR/lib/tools -l 4gsh600 Essentially forcing ld to look at the 4GL shared library first. It seems to work. The binaries are much smaller and they still run. I'm sure this is abuse of the 4GL product, and morally reprehensible, but I think I'm going to do it anyway. In article <53lk2j$hk9@news-2.csn.net>, dwight@rudolph.com says... > >We have an application with several dozen ESQL/C programs, and the default >linkage seems to be static.
