Inserting BLOB BYTE value in table
Posted in 1998
I've searched the IIUG archive on inserting
BLOBs in tables. I'd like to do this
on IDS 7.3 on NT. I downloaded the UPDBLOB
ESQL/C program from the archive, but then
realized I needed to have it compiled in
Dynamic-4GL and wasn't sure how to do that.
I've looked at the LOCATE statement in 4GL
but it looks that statement is only useful for
writing blobs from the database to disk
(please correct me if I'm wrong there).
I want to show pictures for an inventory
item using Dynamic-4GL and i think I
can do it except I don't know how to get
the data in the database to begin with.
(This is for a demo, not production).
I tried to load a .bmp file using load
command in dbaccess on NT but it
gave the message that it's not in proper
ASCII hexadecimal format. How can
I do this on NT?
Thanks!
