Solaris threads on the client side

I am attempting to use Solaris (2.5) threads on an application that is a client to an Informix dataserver. I first looked at ESQL/C but that has a ton of global variables and I didn't bother. I then tried CLI, but that also failed. The manual gives many warnings about having to protect various parts of the code with mutex's so it wasn't suprising that it SIGSEGV'd. I was wondering if this is something that anyone else has done with any success. It seems that most of the Informix client code was written in the 60's when global variables were all you had in COBOL and then ported to C. (Ok, I'm a little frustrated with this problem). My app simply wants to have multiple connections doing different things all at the same time. This shouldn't be that difficult, but Informix tech support (when they finally anwsered the phone) didn't think it could be done. Thanks for any information you can provide. -- scott dunbar dunbar@interaccess.com
