Error in Initialized Partition
Posted in 1994
I have a puzzler for you. We are running Online 4.10.UD4 in a 600 meg partition, on a Pyramid 9845. Lately, the process of tbload/tbunload appeared to cause corruption in databases. After tbloading/tbunloading, an update statistics would die with errors about index corruption. Tbchecks showed no problems before the tbunload. In exasperation, I dbexported the databases, and initialized the partition. With one tiny test database in the partition, during a level 0 archive, we saw failed consistency errors. We reinitialized the partition, and the same thing happened. So, we reinitialized the partition, and just for grins, did an archive. Same problem (failed consistencey errors). The oddest part is that the archive is actually using tapes. I would expect it to take some time, since its walking thru all the blocks, but what the heck is it writing? No hardware errors are being reported or odd messages in the system error files. I'm stumped. Anyone have a clue?
