Moving On-Line

I've been asked to try and get some info on the following: Imagine an Online system with number of dataspaces on one logical volume on an RS6000. This logical volume is split over a number of small physical devices. The owners of this system wish to replace their small disks with a large one. What is the best way to move the dataspaces without upsetting the engine? Is AIX's logical volume manager good enough to convince Online that it's dealing with one disk or does the engine have to store absolute data addresses on the disk.
