Raw disk device are of the form /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0 c0 = controler 0 t0 - ?? d0 - ?? s0 = partition 0 ( partitions on a disk are numbers 0 to 8. Note 1 partition 2 is always of type BACKUP and covers the whole disk I believe it's designed to allow you to dump the whole disk to tape for backup purposes.
