regarding licenses

Hi i need some informations regarding deciding how many licenses i need for Informix installtions. Is there any document and guide which specifically tells how to go baout this? Regards Debadatta

WOW! Great Information found in the db2 part of developerworks! I wish I had been able to find this months ago when we were attempting to purchase an upgrade to our hardware and software. Very well written by Carlton Doe. WOW! http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/db2/library/techarticle/dm-0801doe/ The above document references a PVU. If you want to know more about Licensing Informix for particular machines there is a PDF document on what a PVU (processor Value Unit) is and why that strategy. It is marked confidential so I am not going to attach it here just to be safe. You should be able to get it from IBM if you ask for it. It's reference is YE001, there is also a number 206-154 on it in places that might mean something. Between these two documents I now have a fairly good idea how Informix is licensed. Something I only need to understand once every few years or so but it seems hard to find when you need it.
