That's because Informix is not installed as an OS package anywhere. In 9.40 there wasn't even an uninstall script, you just had to delete the $INFORMIXDIR directory tree and everything in it (careful if you had your own files or dbspaces that were inherited by later releases placed under that 9.40 tree.
