Temp tables, in SE, are written to the directory specified in the DBTEMP environment variable. If this directory does not have write permissions for the user trying to create the temp table file the file cannot be created. Check the permissions on $DBTEMP or if that variable is not defined in /tmp. Art S. Kagel
