>From Informix development tools I recommend only 4GL which have a good history and life span. For GUI - front-end tools we should look in the market for the best performer, it is a field where every thing gets outdated within a quarter and of cutthroat marketing ( in which Informix is on the receiving end ). If you are thinking about the future of your GUI-application then you should probably switch over to some JAVA - front-end tool, again whatever tool you buy will be outdated within one quarter and probably out of market within a year, or you may get some sicko upgrades until that company stops supporting it. Look at Gupta for example they were doing good, then they become sick, they choked on new releases, then changed their name etc., that is the life of GUI front-end. Basic reason being the GUI O/S ( MS Windows ) itself don't have a life span over 2 years ( 16-bit 3.1x to 32 bit 95 to 98 ). So it is a part of life in GUI-development. When Informix is struggling to make money on the best RDBMS engine available in the market, how can they make money on a GUI-development tool, GUI-tool's market is for/full of mushrooming small companies, which pops-up today and fades off. -- Have a nice day Felix K.
