Just curious, you say 60 000 regression tests - can you tell me a bit more about this, what this means ? I attended an Infobahn last year October, and was quite impressed by all the testing they do on IDS. IBM is investing more resources in Informix than Informix themselves did. They have more developers working on Informix than Informix did! They do 60,000 regression tests per night...more than Informix did! They have plans up to 2010.. sending to informix-list
Err Well at the IBM Informix meeting at Bedfont Lakes today I heard that Informix now build 5000 servers per night and regression test fixes every night whereas in the Informix days it could be 3 weeks before a fix got regression tested.. http://smooth1.my-bulldog.com/pages/smooth1_my-bulldog_com/ifaq/ifaq01.htm#1.9 gives all the rest I know..IBM is definitely committed to Informix.. That was the message from today's IBM meeting..no longer do the DB2 and Informix development lines merge...Informix and DB2 continue in parallel forever..again I saw plans up to 2010 and as IBM said no-one can plan futher ahead that that for anything in the software world... I heard about new engine stuff that is coming out (I'll actually keep my mouth shut until this stuff gets announced but I meet a developer guy who is working on this stuff!). Cool!
PS I will be chasing IBM to get the slides from this meeting put up somewhere ... PPS Graham Nicholls can you e-mail me a phone number?
