Nettype

Hello all,
NETTYPE ipcshm,1,200,NET # Configure poll thread(s) for nettype
NETTYPE soctcp,3,384,CPU # Configure poll thread(s) for nettype
Does the above setting mean that 3 poll threads will handle 384 connections
or each of the 3 poll threads will handle 384 connections each?
The description in the Informix Admin Guide and Informix Performance Guide
is different in this regards.
Thanks a lot in advance for all your replies.

Your querstion was already answered some time ago.
Your setting means
- 1 shared memory thread for up to 200 connections as a separate network
process
- 3 threads for sockets, each for up to 384 connections, in cpu
processes
By the way, you should switch this. Shared memory threads should be on
CPU, Network threads on NET.
Greetings
Frank
Although the manuals don't differ they are not particularly explicit in this
regard. Your first nettype defines 1x200 connections and the second 3x384
connections making a total of 1352 connections that are catered for. However
the manual does state that each poll thread can handle between 200 and 250
connections so the second nettype should be 3x200 normal and 3x250 maximum
ie 600 to 750 connections. The total catered for being 800 to a max of 1000.
Yours
