Microsoft Access as Front End to Informix Backend

Is anyone else using Microsoft Access 97 as a front end to Informix DS 7.3 ? I'm having a number of problems with intensive SQL routines "locking up" or stopping in midstream. Should I be using the Informix 2.80 ODBC driver or the Intersolv 3.01 ODBC driver ? Also, in regards to Visual Basic 6.0, does anyone know if I can use ADO with Informix ? Thanks.
