Douglas, I found my old manuals(Informix 3.0 1983) and maybe I can help. Does one of your reads select data from the same file as the field you would like to add? You should be able to add the field to that read statement as Graeme suggested. The base syntax is: read [into temp_table] fieldlist { where clause } { join clause } end There may be many read statements into temp tables, but the last read statement is what is passed on to the format section so your field needs to show up there. Email some sample code and I can at least look up how it should work. Its been a long time since I have used it.
