what is esql?? who to use esql?? ------------------------ e-mail: soph@doit.ajou.ac.kr homepage : doit.ajou.ac.kr/~soph
ESQL is an acronym for Extended Query Language and is available from all (almost all?) RDBMS vendors and for several languages. (i.e. ESQL/C, ESQL/COBOL, ESQL/FORTRAN etc. etc.). ESQL/* is usually a pre-compiler that allows a programmer to embed SQL statments into a more traditional language. The statements are then parsed and translated into the native language creating a standard source code file. ESQL then calls the native compiler to parse, compile link the necessary files to produce a library or executable. Hence.... You code a foo.ec and compile by esql foo.ec. the ESQL script then produces a foo.c and executes foo.a and finally a foo.
