Every 5 minutes 3 MB will be inserted into the database. The data will be processed during that time (checking threshold values, calculating ...). Then the data is sent to a Motif application that will visualize part of the information (only a few percent). The database host will be a Siemens MX500i (multiprocessor '386 machine). My questions: Has anybody ever worked successfully with a database that big? Is it possible to do what we are trying to do? i.e can you insert 3MB in a 9GB database in 5 minutes and select that data after inserting in 5 minutes? Do we get better performance by using an transaction monitor? Please reply by email - i will summarize and post the results to the net. Martin Stein mars@ixos.uucp Ixos Software GmbH mars@ixos.de
