I was (just a few months ago, actually) in the position of having to modify an existing PHP4 script to have it insert multiline strings into a table. I opted for making the PHP4 script call an external Python script that would perform the database update. I'm still not sure if I should be proud or ashamed of this solution ;) -Carsten
