In our case the devices got named in divvy and ended up in /dev as: /dev/rd115x, /dev/rd125x and so on for each disk. (Make sure you use the rd.. devices, not the once that start with only d.) There is no mention in any manual I know of that this is what you are supposed to do to create the raw devices. You have to infer it from the SCO documentation on the divvy utility. Also the device names in SCO for disks is a jungle, and I think they are dependent upon the type of disk (IDE or SCSI). Make sure you have SCSI disks or you may get bad performance as you add users and the database size grows. These device names where on SCSI disks. The above mentioned device names are the ones we created links to. As we put these linked filenames in the /dev-directory we didn't need any options to ln. Informix says to create symbolic links, but I don't know any reason to do that as long as you are in a reasonably simple environement on SCO. By the way, you do want to upgrade very soon to SCO version 5 and Informix OnLine version 7.xx. If not you'l soon run into bugs that can't be resolved.
