Re: 4GL to GUI conversion

Brad, I've been looking at a product from California Associates called Opal to do for us what you've described. It is a GUI product that sits on your PC and gives you a link to the Informix database using ODBC drivers. The nice thing about it is that you don't really need to be a programmer to get started. It uses a screen scraping technology that uses the underlying 4GL code and displays the screens in a GUI format. From what I understand, it does have a programming language built in to write code from scratch, but that's not it's forte. The person I was talking to is based in Massachusetts. His name and address is: Peter Murphy 1 Tech Drive Andover, Ma. 01810-2497 (978) 691-4287 or (978) 685-1400 murpe01@cai.com This info came from his business card, so I'm hoping it's correct.
