Re: More bang for the buck? Linux Vs Windows?

It's difficult to administer anything under Windoze - you can't get to anything easily and it changes so drastically from version to version. I know it's unfair to compare Windoze 286 throug XP with Unix SVR2 - Linux, but have you tried to work with XP lately? What changes did you have to make to where you expected to find things just in moving from ME? What a mess of bloatware. The interface may be more intuitive, but it's a royal pain in the *ss to get underneath it and fix anything - espescially with any hope of it staying fixed. I suggest you benchmark, but I bet you will find that the same code runs faster under Linux as it does under Windoze, on the same hardware. H*ck I'll try it here in a day or so. cheers j. ----- Original Message ----- From: "DL Redden" <redden96@yahoo.com> To: "Informix List" <informix-list@iiug.org> Sent: Monday, February 16, 2004 6:00 PM Subject: More bang for the buck?
