unbelieveable!
the problem was that the name fedora1 in sqlhosts file (and also in
/etc/hosts) was the same as localhost. I changed fedora1 with fedora1-ifx
(added an entry in /etc/hosts and changed the hostname in sqlhosts) and it
worked!
