WH] Announcing the IIUG Internet Home Site The International Informix Users Group (IIUG) announces the official registration of its Internet domain, IIUG.ORG, and its Internet home site, "iiug.iiug.org" (IP 128.117.71.100). This site can be referred to as simply "iiug.org" in most cases. For those who need such information: the primary name server for IIUG.ORG is the system quasar.ucar.edu (IP 128.117.71.21), and the secondary name server is rmyns.rmy.emory.edu (IP 170.140.97.1). Note that this reflects a recent IP number change for the RMY.EMORY.EDU domain. The primary functions that iiug.org will serve initially will be to house the IIUG FTP archive and the IIUG Web pages. Two host names have been defined for these functions: ftp.iiug.org and www.iiug.org. While these two names currently point to the same system, they may be split off to separate systems in the future. We hope to make iiug.org a comprehensive "one-stop-shop" on the Internet for Informix-related information pertaining to user-contributed software, newsgroup and mailing list archives, and news about local and regional Informix user groups. And, of course we'll have up-to-date details on the various IIUG programs and projects. To access the IIUG Web site, use the URL "http://www.iiug.org/"; from any of the popular Web browsers. This site offers information about IIUG and all local and regional Informix user groups. It also provides facilities for searching and viewing most of the files in the IIUG FTP archive, including the Informix FAQ Listing maintained by Kerry Sainsbury. The IIUG Web site is the perfect complement to the Informix corporate Web site, www.informix.com. The IIUG FTP Archive is accessible via anonymous FTP to ftp.iiug.org. The archive holds downloadable files containing software, termcap entries, technical publications, and a full archive of comp.databases.informix and informix-list. The archive at ftp.iiug.org is currently mirroring the Informix section of the archive at mathcs.emory.edu. However, the roles of these two systems will swap in the near future, with ftp.iiug.org becoming the primary site. When this occurs, we'll begin reorganizing and expanding the archive. Both www.iiug.org and ftp.iiug.org are now open to the public, and we invite you to visit them. Let us know if you have any questions or suggestions on how we can improve them.
