Informix CLI version

I heard from a consultant of ours that I should be using Informix-CLI version 3. This is apparently an ODBC driver that Informix designed themselves and didn't OEM from Intersolv. I can't find any information on this driver anywhere. Does it really exist? If so, where can I get it? Thanks in advance, David Chamberlain Oregon International Airfreight, Inc.
