Hi everybody, this warning appears, to many times, in the server message log: 18:54:24 listener-thread: err = -27001: oserr = 0: errstr = : Read error occurred during connection attempt. Can I know if is it a network problem or server problem? Because in the Informix Answer Online, this warning may be ocurrs for difernet reasons ... Thanks in advance. Paola
Hola Paola ! Hmm. Ese es realmente dificil a saber. It may even be a client problem. This can happen when a client tries to connect, but then "disengages" before the listener had a chance to process the connect request. In that case it will try to read some info from the client, but can't because the client is already "gone out for lunch" ... This will result in such a "read error during connection attempt ...". Having said this, it doesn't mean that it could not be some other problem (e.g. really network related) .. Hi Paola, What Martin wrote to you is correct. This error shows up if a client connects and then goes away for some reason before sending anything to the server. (Normally there is some initial conversation. You can use some network monitoring tool to look at it.) You can reproduce this in the following way: Find out your server port and machine. Then use the Unix telnet command to simulate a server connection: telnet <machine> <online-port> Don't type anything into telnet. It would be sent to the server. Instead on a different window use ps to find telnet's process id. The kill it using kill -9 <telnet-pid> This should produce your error message in the online log.
