Hi The steps for performing a onbar imported restore should be documented in the IBM Informix Backup and Restore Guide. I don't have the 7.31 docs, but It's in the 9.4 docs.The steps my not be much easier that what you've been doing with ontape. The basic step are 1. Install the database server and the storage manager on the target computer. 2. Set up the storage manager on the target database server instance. 3. Perform a level-0 backup (onbar -b or onbar -b -w) of all storage spaces on the source database server. 4. With other storage managers, you might be able to use backup tapes or import the storage-manager directories over the network. For more information, see your storage-manager documentation. 5. Mount the transferred storage volumes. 6. Copy over the Emergency boot file, oncfg files: oncfg_servername.servernum, ONCONFIG file 7. Use the onbar -r command to restore the data. There are some caveats and specifics on the steps above, so you will definitely need the documentation.
