Re: Seattle trip

I understand that the Vashon Island Strawberry Festival is being held that weekend (just prior to the conference). You basic outdoor party/flea market/live music/parade (the Thriftway there has a precision shopping cart team). I'll be there. Getting to the island is fairly simple. There is a car ferry from Fauntleroy dock (West Seattle) (15 minute ride, but the wait is killer, unless you go early in the day) and a passenger ferry from the main dock downtown (35 minute ride). You have to catch a bus into town if you've taken the passenger ferry. If you bring your bike there's a killer hill up to the plateau and then basically flat into town, about 5-6 miles south. There are also ferries from Tacoma (Point Defiance-south end) and Southworth (north end). Passenger tickets used to be between $1 and $2. Car tickets about $10 round trip. Check out schedule and stuff at: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedules/upcoming/sched-sv.htm (Passenger) http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedules/upcoming/sched-fsv.htm (Car) http://transit.metrokc.gov/bus/schedules/s118_0_.html (Bus schedule) http://transit.metrokc.gov/bus/schedules/s119_0_.html (Other Bus Schedule) cheers j. And as you live there may be you could arrange the c.d.i. party? All you would have to do is find a place we could go with the quailities requested from most people here (beer and the like is the minimum, but other things may be wanted). Then post the time and place here and a lot of people will show up. I seem to remember someone else from Seattle also posting here resently, so you might find that person and get help if you want. Just a suggestion - feel free to do anything you want.
