Pipe problems (dreams?) in Informix 4gl

Informix 4gl 6.02 Informix Online 7.13 HPUX 10.01 I have a problem with a given user (OK, no smirks out there!! <G> ). Our reports give the users a chance to determine the final resting place of their reports, whether file or printer. When they choose printer, they are given a list of printers; they can only pick one. All of our reports to printer will pass that information from the front end to the back end report (run without waiting), then open a pipe to the printer (start report xxxx1 to pipe <printerinfo>). I have a user where the report never starts. It appears that he is unable to open a pipe to the printer. He can print to file with no problem. Other users can print a report to printer. Just not able to make the connection to the printer. Also, he shares a common .profile with other users, who have no problem. Anyone in this group able to help, or do I need to forward this to the HP newsgroups? Thanks John Carlson Informix DBA WH Smith, Inc.
