Hey, I've gotten the Informix SE installed and the demo functioning correctly, tho I would like to test the SDK, but I can't seem to find out what the default username and password are for the database. Any pointers?? Thanks in advance, David Robinson
Use Informix. Then add yourself to the database by granting you rights to it. There is no default username and password which is why you can't find them ;-) You can grant rights by simply stating grant [dba|connect|resource] to you then you can use your username and password on that machine to log in to the database through IConnect on your workstation or you can use Informix of course. FYI: Informix uses the OS username and password authentication to allow access to your database granted you have access to that database through granting them rights of course ... or you could be lazy and grant public dba rights which allows everyone who has access to that machine ... access to your database ... but most people frown from this of course, as do I ;-) As I am sure you thought of this... but be sure that you are running sesoctcp for your informix server in order to connect through tcp. Any pointers?? Informix does not do its own username/password verification it relies on the OS to supply verification. Any valid OS login can connect to the server and any valid user that has connect permissions or better to a particular database, either explicitly through 'GRANT CONNECT/RESOURCE/DBA TO username' or implicitely through the more dangerous 'GRANT CONNECT/RESOURCE/DBA TO public' can open that database. So if you did not create the database as yourself (the creator has default DBA privelege which includes CONNECT privelege) then just grant the appropriate privelege level as the owner/creator or as user informix.
